Nancy Gavlin
Nancy L. Gavlin, S.E., P.E., is the Director of Education for AISC. She is responsible for AISC’s university relations and continuing education activities. Previous to joining AISC in September, 2008, Nancy worked as a visiting lecturer at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Structural Engineer at Skidmore Owings & Merrill in Chicago. Prior to that, she was Co-Founder and Partner at Gavlin & Reckers Structural Engineers and a Structural Engineer at Skilling Helle Christian Robertson, Inc. in Seattle. In addition to her work experience, Nancy has served as a Board Member for the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation Structural Engineer Licensing and as an active member of various professional organizations such as the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying and the Structural Engineers Association of Illinois. Currently, she is the president of the Applied Technology Council (ATC). Nancy received her bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and her master’s degree in Structural Engineering at the University of California at Berkeley.
