Marshall R. Thompson

Dr. Marshall Thompson has been a professor in the civil and environmental engineering department at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign since 1962. He received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. all in civil engineering from 1956-1964 at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Thompson is currently a professor emeritus and has an office in Newmark. His research interests focus on asphalt as a paving material as well as soils. Dr. Thompson has done significant research for the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) to better improve the asphalt used for building roads. Dr. Thompson is still a very useful consultant for other civil engineering professors at U of I as well as for industry.
