German R. Gurfinkel
Dr. German Gurfinkel was a professor in the civil and environmental engineering department at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is currently an emeritus professor. He received his Ph.D. in civil engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1966. Dr. Gurfinkel has been involved in a multitude of structural engineering areas throughout his career; including wood, concrete, and steel as they relate to structural engineering. He authored Wood Engineering and is the co-author of Pre-stressed Concrete. Dr. Gurfinkel is an American Society of Civil Engineers fellow and has won prestigious awards from the Structural Engineers Association of Illinois and the U.S. Army in Europe. He has also received teaching awards from the Danforth Foundation, the UIUC student chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers, and the University of Illinois. Dr. Gurfinkel’s contributions to structural engineering have been instrumental in the development of the profession.
