Frank Klein

Frank Klein received a B.S. in Architectural Engineering in 1940 and a M.S. in Civil Engineering in 1949, both at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He served as an architecture instructor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign from 1948-1949. For several years between his degrees, Mr. Klein served in the United States Navy in the South Pacific during World War II.

After completion of his graduate studies, he worked for well-known architectural firms such as Shaw, Metz and Dolio and Skidmore, Owings and Merrill. After gaining more experience, Frank Klein started The Frank Klein Company in 1953, which later became Klein and Hoffman Inc. in 1975 after Klein became partners with Edward S. Hoffman.

Among his many awards, Frank Klein received a Lifetime Achievement Award and was the 1992 Civil Engineer of the Year for his work as the president of the Illinois Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Frank Klein was an elect in the University of Illinois’ Hall of Fame and received its Distinguished Alumnus Award in 1998.
