Edward E. Bauer
Edward Ezra Bauer was born on June 6, 1886, at Rocky Ridge, Ohio. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 1919, a professional degree in Civil Engineering in 1927, and the Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 1929, all from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. After serving in the United States Navy, Bauer joined the faculty of the Civil Engineering Department in 1919. He wrote several textbooks including Plain Concrete and Highway Materials and was the author of numerous of technical papers. In addition, Bauer was an active member of many technical organizations including the American Society of Testing and Materials, the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Concrete Society and the Highway Research Board. Furthermore, he was an active member of numerous honorary educational and professional societies including Triangle Fraternity. He was honored with the Triangle Service Award in 1928 and the Crossman Award of the Illinois Chapter in 1952. Bauer passed away on July 22, 1964, in Urbana, Illinois.
