Carrol C. Wiley
Carroll Carson Wiley was born in 1884 and obtained his B.S. degree in 1904, and his C.E. in 1910 from the University of Illinois. After just two years of working in the field after obtaining his B.S. degree, Carroll returned to the University in 1906 as an instructor. Thirty years later, Carroll became an official Professor of Civil Engineering in 1937. As a professor, Wiley contributed a great deal to the university, particularly in the field of highway engineering. Wiley put together such reports as “The mortar-making qualities of Illinois sands,” and authoring such books as "Railroad Surveying" and "Route Surveying." Through his hard work and dedication, Professor Carroll Wiley helped shape the University of Illinois into the engineering powerhouse that it is today.
