Professor Amr Elnashai is the current Head of the department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Illinois. After graduating from Cairo University, Dr. Elnashai continued his studies at Imperial College, University of London, where he became a Professor of Earthquake Engineering and Head of Section. He is also the founder of the Journal of Earthquake Engineering and an editorial board member of many other journals. Dr. Elnashai has made many contributions in many different civil engineering societies. He is Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers, as well as the Institution of Structural Engineers in the UK to name a few. Dr. Elnashai came to the University of Illinois in 2001, where he continues his research in earthquake engineering.
