Ad Altare Dei Program 2017  

Open to Catholic Venturers and Boy Scouts - Boys and Girls

  •  What is the Ad Altare Dei? It is the oldest religious award available to Boy Scouts and Venturing boys and girls. The program focuses on the Seven Sacraments and is designed to help Catholic Scouts develop a fully Christian way of life in the faith community.
  • Who is this workshop for? It is open to registered Boy Scouts and Venture Crew (boys & girls), who have completed the 6th grade and above and who would like to achieve their AAD emblem.
  • Who will be teaching the sessions? Peter and Michelle Brown who are trained Ad Altare Dei instructors. Classes will be at their home at 85 Pine Ave., Riverside, IL.
  • How do I sign up? Please RSPV to Michelle Brown at 630-660-3048 or michellebrownriverside@gmail.com by September 18, 2017.
  • How much does it cost? The only cost associated with the course is $6 for the manual that we will pick up from the Scout Shop for you.

  • 9/24, 11:45 am – 2:45 pm – Chapters 1 & 2
  • 10/21, 8:30 am – 4:00 pm – Optional retreat at St. Joseph College Seminary. (Attending one approved retreat is a requirement of the program.)
  • 10/22, 11:45 am – 2:00 pm – Chapters 3 & 4
  • 10/22, 2:00 pm – 6:30 pm – Optional retreat to Shrine of Christ’s Passion in St. John, Indiana.
  • 10/29, 11:45 am – 2:45 pm – Chapters 5 & 6
  • 11/12, 11:45 am – 1:15 pm – Chapter 7
  • 11/12, 1:15 pm – 3:00 pm – Make up session for any missed lessons
  • 11/19, 11:45 am – 2:30 pm – Chapter 8 & pizza
  • Early December – Board of Review (multiple dates and locations available in the Chicagoland area)
  • 1/28/18, 2:30 pm – 4:00 pm – Religious Emblems Ceremony, Holy Name Cathedral

To order the Cub Scout emblems, Parvuli Dei, or the Light of Christ award, please contact Yasmin Alba, and allow three weeks for order processing, and delivery. Please allow additional time where possible, when ordering for Blue & Gold Events in February and March.

2017 Ad Altare Dei & Pope Pius XII Board of Review

DATES, LOCATIONS AND TIMES FOR 2017 BOARDS OF REVIEW WILL BE POSTED LATE SUMMER OR EARLY FALL THIS YEAR
PLEASE CHECK THIS PAGE AFTER LABOR DAY


For the Board of review, every Scout will need to appear in full Scout Field Uniform, (often referred to the 'Class A" uniform). They will need to have their books properly completed, with all the required signatures, and also the last page, the survey.

The medal fee is $20 and is paid at the Board of Review. Please make checks payable to Archdiocese of Chicago.

The next award ceremony for St. George, Ad Altare Dei, Pope Pius XII, and the Pope Paul VI (quality unit award) recipients will be held Sunday, January 28, 2018, at Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago.
