Cherry Hinton Lions F.C. was founded in 1983, and since that initial start has grown tremendously, at present we are giving regular football to over 190 players. Since the start of 2008, we have had a lot of interest from boys and girls of 5 and 6 years of age, so much so in fact that we now have an Under 7 squad.

Another success for the Club were the girls ‘ Drop-In ‘ sessions, as a result of those we currently have an Under 13 girls team competing in the S-Tech Girls League, and another batch of girls hopefully coming through for next season. In our Club Development Plan, we had planned to start a senior team for the season 2009/2010, therefore giving the Colts League players a natural progression into senior football. I am happy to announce that this has been started and they are currently playing in the VB Trophies Sunday League, it is quite possible that we could be fielding a reserve side next season, so come on dads show the children how it should be done.

Over the years we have had boys from this Club go on to better things, like playing for Semi Professional clubs, to playing for Premiership Clubs and even England Schoolboys, we have even had one lad who went on to represent his country at rugby. The success does not end with the boys, there was one young girl who played her Mini Soccer with The Lions, and is now a member of Arsenal Ladies, and was only just recently selected to represent G.B Universities in the World University Games at football. So you can see that with dedication and determination you can go on from humble beginnings to achieve greater things, and we sincerely hope that they do.

It is not only about coaching players at Cherry Hinton, we are also proud of the way that our coaches are keen to progress with their coaching badges. Currently we have at least one person per team who has completed the FA Level 1 Coaching Certificate, we have two coaches who have attained their FA Level 2 Coaching Certificates, and are going on for FA Level 3 ( UEFA B Badge ). There are a number of coaches who wish to take their Level 2 badges very soon, and one young lady who has already started her Level 2. There are even three coaches who have obtained their Goalkeeping Level 1 Coaching Certificate. So as you can see we are a very progressive and proactive Club when it comes to coaching, and all for the benefit of the players.

We are not only a proud Club, but we are proud of our Club. In the past few years the Club has pushed forward after so many years stagnating. We applied for and were awarded Charter Standard Club status in September 2007, and pushed on to achieve Development Club status in December 2007, and we are determined to achieve Community Club status within the next twelve months. Well that’s enough from me, I hope that you take the time to browse the site and take a look at the various Squad pages, go ahead…
