School Owner and Head Instructor -

Mr Tom Baxter 2nd Degree Black Belt

Tom started training in Taekwon-do during primary school and trained right up until the start of his GCSEs. Just before Tom left home to attend University, he started training in Taekwon-do again and kept up his training at Chepstow Taekwon-do throughout University, despite the 160 miles he had to travel each week in order to do so.

As Tom's final year of University approached, he successfully passed his pre-grading for his Black Belt at the PUMA national pre-grading and he began training almost every night in preparation for his Black Belt grading. After grading successfully for his Black belt in 2011 under the instruction of Mr Bridgeman, Tom began to study for his Instructor's qualification which meant teaching a number of classes and coursework. Tom successfully passed his Instructor's qualification with a high credit pass in 2013.

Tom qualified as a Little PUMA Instructor in 2012 and was put in charge of instructing the Little PUMA class for Mr Bridgeman. Some of Mr Baxter's original Little PUMAs still train today!

Tom took his 2nd Degree Black belt grading in October 2018 and successfully passed as well as being awarded the PUMA Best Adult Essay Grading Award for the October grading.

Tom continues to train under the instruction of PUMA Chairman and Senior Master R Gayle 8th Degree Black belt.

Tom also regularly competes in competitions across England and has won a number of medals, finishing 2018 as the vice English and British Champion in -58 and -64 kilogram sparring as well as vice British champion as 1st/2nd Degree Patterns silver medallist.

Tom also won a Bronze medal in the -58kg sparring division at the PUMA International in February 2018. Tom is now undertaking training to become a qualified tournament umpire within PUMA.

Tom's long experience working with children in education has meant that he has tried and tested positive methods of getting the kids to progress with their Taekwon-do whilst having fun. His adult classes, whilst being technical, are conducted with a sense of humour. His enthusiasm for and enjoyment of Taekwon-do comes across in each lesson and this has encouraged students, resulting in a number of Little PUMAs and teenagers requesting details on how to become a Taekwon-do Instructor.
