Belgium is a country of 10.5 million people. Their ethnicity is 93.2% European, with the remainder being Arabs at 6%, the remainder being Turkish, Jews, and Saharan Africans.

Belgium is a Constitutional Monarchy.

Constitutional monarchy is a form of government in which a king or queen acts as Head of State. The ability to make and pass legislation resides with an elected Parliament, not with the Monarch

Belgium does celebrate full religious freedom however the media and government bias is towards Catholicism. There is also a bias against evangelicals. The majority of Belgians deem religion irrelevant.

To put these numbers into somewhat of a perspective, Catholicism makes up 47.69%, Protestant makes up 1.01 percent, with the rest of the "popular" religions falling well below 1.0%. 12.5% of people in Belgium are unaffiliated or Agnostic. 5.5 million Belgians are Catholics, with Protestants and Jews making up 23,000 each, and other denominations comprising less than 7,000 people except for Greek Orthodox which has approximately 19,700 members.

I spent some time in Germany, 4 years to be exact. I have seen how a government influenced church becomes corrupt, and apathetic to it's believers over time until attending church becomes more of a social gathering and something that you are supposed to do to go to heaven; serving yourself instead of serving God. When you combine that with the continuing decline of morality that is accepted by the population then soon there will be no need for the church in the eyes of the citizens nor the government.

So we have our prayer work cut out for us it would seem.

Pray that the Church might have a profound impact on the political turmoil that exists due to Belgium's geographical location and violent history. It has only been in the past few years that the Protestant churches there have began to recover from the destruction of it's 600 congregations by the Spanish Inquisition in the 16th Century.

Pray that people turn to Christ instead of Agnosticism and other non-Christian identities.

Pray that the country turns away from the rapid secularization that plagues all societies with progressivism as it’s motivator.

Pray that local nationals will feel the fire of God burn inside them and take up leadership roles in the churches and in an otherwise immoral society.

Pray that immigrants turn to the New Testament churches (no number available at this time) instead of the government influenced Catholic church, or worse, one of the 380 mosques that have been built in Belgium.

There is one organization that caught my eye and that is Serve the City. It combines practical service to citizens while sharing the gospel. It practices what it preaches.

Here is a weblink....for more information.
