Developing Kingdom Leaders

We organize our church around the Great Commission that Jesus gives to the church in Matthew 28:19-20...

[Mat 28:19-20 NIV] "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Don't wait and don't be shy.  Share your love and gifts with others!

This page is intended as a place for everyone to get involved.  We currently have several contributors to this page and hope that many more will follow.  We encourage everyone who wishes to add their thoughts and ideas to submit your entry to us via email at cheneyfbcwebsite@gmail.com.

I believe that this page will become an inspiration to those who seek the wisdom shared amongst each of us as we contribute what God places upon our hearts.

How is Your Spiritual Maturity?

Letter from Nadine's cousin who is a Missionary in Brazil

Let me share something that I thought was pretty neat. In our ladies’ Sunday School class we are doing a study of the harmony of the Gospels, trying to get a more complete understanding of Jesus. Last week we hit the only verses that tell us anything about Jesus’ youth/teen years. We always say there is no information about those years. I beg to differ! But not because I discovered it. I read a book called THE TEENAGE YEARS OF JESUS CHRIST that led me from Luke 2:52 (he was increasing…growing… in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man) to I Corinthians 13:11 where Paul talks about what is involved in leaving childhood behind and becoming mature

An interesting study…how is OUR spiritual maturity? Do we still think and speak and act like we did when we were “children”? Or have we actually grown and matured and are we better prepared now to do the ministry God has called (each of) us to do? Jesus spent the years between 12 and the beginning of his ministry maturing in various ways mentioned in these verses. Check it out!

I am the Child of the King

posted Mar 18, 2016, 11:14 PM by Rick Huguenin

I love to watch movies and I have a large collection of DVD's and Videos.  However, the Lord has been prompting me with the idea that I need to be careful and not let watching movies become an idol.  But I have discovered that if you are alert you can be encouraged spiritually even by some actions in a secular movie.  I was watching "The Princess Diaries 1" where the Queen had gone riding with her granddaughter who had inadvertently driven her car into the side of  a streetcar.  The grandmother was getting all bent out of shape because her granddaughter was having to go downtown with the policeman because the accident was her fault. Grandma was starting to give the policeman an argument.  Then her whole demeanor transformed.  She suddenly remembered who she was-The Queen of Genovia - and queens don't act like that!  Her whole bearing changed, her body language changed and her words changed.  She acted like the queen she was, took charge  of the situation and the whole atmosphere as well as the results changed.

That's what I would like to be able to do when difficulties come into my life instead of grumbling, blaming,  being unkind, or resentful, etc.  I would like to be able to remember who I am - the Child of The King - and let Jesus pour His peace into me so I will act in my attitude, in the words I say and in my demeanor like the person I really am.

Lord, bring this to my mind at these times, that I am a child of the King, and help me to act as such.
