Dear devotees,

Welcome to the Chenankavu (from "Chenan" ManiyaniTemple, a famous temple of the Hindu mother goddess Bhagawati. The temple is located in Korom Village, near Payyanur in the southern Indian state of Kerala and is one of the most popular Bhagavati temples in Malabar region, along with Kadampuzha Bhagavati Temple. Bhagawati is one of the most popular deities in the area, and she is worshipped at the temple, along with Lord Shiva, in three different forms: as Saraswati in the morning, draped in white; as Lakshmi at noon, draped in crimson; and as Durga in the evening, decked in blue.

People suffering from mental illnesses commonly visit the temple, as Bhagawati is thought to cure her devotees. One should not miss the 'Chovva Vilakku' in the temple. This is a ritual done at late evening to invoke the goddess. Earlier 'Chovva Vilakku' was done only on Tuesdays. But nowadays, it is performed everyday.

'Saptaham Vayana' and "Vishu" are the two famous religious festivals in the temple.

On the way to the Chenankavu Temple is the Perunthanniyoor temple, also at Korom. Chenankavu Bhagavathi temple is about 1 km from the Perunthanniyoor temple and 6 km from Subrahmanyaswami temple at Payyanur.
