Welcome to the website of Chelsea C. Chou. I am a Professor in the Graduate Institute of National Development at National Taiwan University (NTU) and the Director of International Cooperation at the Taiwan Foundation for Democracy (TFD). I received my Ph.D. from the Department of Government at Cornell University. 

My research focuses on state-society relations in authoritarian regimes and social policy-making in China. I have published in China Information, Journal of Asian Public Policy, Journal of Chinese Political Science, Social Policy & Administration, and PLOS One, among others. My broader research fields include Comparative Politics, Authoritarianism, Labor and Health Policies, International Relations, and Chinese Politics.

At NTU, I also serve as the Director of the Hu Fu Center for East Asia Democratic Studies and the Director of the East Asian Studies Program Committee in the College of Social Sciences.
