Chautauqua Hall itself was built in 1881 as an assembly hall for the popular annual Methodist Church summer conference in Pacific Grove. Since then, the hall has been used by various groups of people for different purposes: for church services, for fitness classes, as a high school gymnasium, as a dance hall, etc.
The Chautauqua Hall Dance Club recognized the hall's potential for dancing because of its large hardwood floor. The Club has been hosting a dance every Saturday evening for about 65 years. Whether you are an expert dancer or have never danced before you will feel welcome, as the hall has a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
