Dr. Charmaine Tan Huan Yuen
Senior Scientist, Institute of High Performance Computing (IHPC), Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR)
I am interested in using Behavioural and Experimental Economics to understand how people think, feel, and act. My research uses computerized lab-based experiments to understand the social and psychological aspects of decision-making, including group identity, pro-sociality, the role of stress and emotions, as well as personality traits. I am passionate about the applications of behavioural sciences for effective public policy design and implementations.
Previously, I was a Research Fellow at the National University of Singapore School of Business (2018-2020), and a Researcher (Social & Economics) at the Civil Service College Singapore (CSC), Institute of Governance and Leadership (2010 – 2018). At CSC, I was involved in research in public policy issues, and in designing programmes to train policy practitioners in areas such as auction design, behavioural economics, quantitative analysis methods, and evidence-based policy-making.
I hold a Ph.D. in Economics from the National University of Singapore (2018), Masters in Economics of Markets and Organizations from Toulouse School of Economics (2011), and a Bachelor in Economics (First Class Honors) from the National University of Singapore (2009).
