Sessions and Fees

I offer short term counselling and longer term psychotherapy, generally on a one-to-one basis.

Some people prefer to establish a time-frame for the work at the outset; others prefer to allow the therapeutic relationship to develop and deepen over a longer period of time. There is no right or wrong way.

Boundaries are important in therapy. Sessions last 50 minutes, and take place in the same place and at the same time each week. I let clients know in advance of any impending breaks, and issues of confidentiality and missed sessions are clearly explained from the start. Please also note that any data stored by me (eg your name, address, email, phone number etc) is strictly in compliance with new General Data Protection Regulations.

The standard practice in psychodynamic counselling and psychotherapy of charging for missed or cancelled sessions is adopted unless otherwise agreed. There are usually three holiday breaks per year at Christmas, Easter and during the summer. This policy is undertaken as therapy is a commitment by both parties and as such the session time is exclusively allocated to the client and not normally re-allocated in the event of absence. Session fees range from £50-£70 according to income, and can be discussed in more detail at the first meeting.
