Come on in...

We moved into our current house in July 2008. It's a new construction home with 4 bedrooms and 2.5 baths.  We are slooowly working on decorating and personalizing the space.

Pre-Move In

Updated 5/26/09 with new DIY personalized planters

Updated Pic

I was struggling with finding window treatments for our front door. There was no way to hang blinds and I didn't want to use the frosted film (had a bad experience with that stuff), so I hung sheer curtains from BB&B. The panels are folded in half and hung with drapery clips.

Artwork has since been replaced with key/mail organizer

The canisters hold faux lemons, wine corks and Yankee candle tarts.

Cute containers for Charlie

Walk-in pantry...which I LOVE

Top Shelf: linens, extra pitchers, platters etc.

2nd Shelf: cleaning supplies, paper goods

3rd Shelf: baking supplies, boxed goods, can items

4th Shelf: Snack foods, breakfast items, drink mixes

Bottom Shelf: Pet supplies, bar-b-que tools

I'm a bit of an Anal Andy when it comes to organization:) I purchased these cleaner/paper towel holders from They keep everything organized and easily screw into the back of the cabinet doors. I use the pull-out bin from BB&B to hold trash bags and dishwasher detergent.

I use the cabinet in our attached island to store cookbooks, games and phone books.

Formal Dining Room

Our dining room furniture is the Madison collection from Crate & Barrel

(yes, those are the infamous MrsPaz/C&B knock-off/Michael's mirrors)

Nesties, I need your help. This is the view from our front door. I'm at a loss as to what to put here. Any ideas?

Breakfast Room

Update 11/1/09 with super easy DIY valances

instructions found here

Great Room

Current Pic 11/1/09 (moved loveseat, added decor to ladder-shelf)

New coffee table from Craigslist for $20. All it needed was a good cleaning and some spray paint.

Close up of DIY photo wall

This was done on a $60 budget. The frames are from Big Lots and Dollar General. They were black, so I spray painted a thin coat of brown to get the frames to match our expresso furiniture. The mats were all purchased at the Dollar Tree.

Other Details

New lamps from Home Goods, which were a splurge but I love them.

Coat Closet

I keep our Dyson and Bissel Steam Cleaner in here. The big tub on the top shelf is filled w/ gloves and scarves.

1/2 Bath on Main Level

Let's Head Upstairs

Master Bedroom

This room is super boring. We plan on redoing it once we have enough money set aside.

Master Bathroom

Details: Keep Calm Print from Etsy, Basket of Bath goodies, Faux flowers from Target clearance.

7/30/09 Mini-makeover: new paint, cabinet and shelf

More organization under my bathroom sink

(Keep my hair supplies on one side, beauty products on the other and nail polish in a basket)

Water Closet (Although I've never actually called it that in IRL)

We keep cleaning supplies for the 2nd floor in here, so we don't to have to lug stuff up and down the stairs.

Our 1st house had virtually NO closet space, so the fact that we now have a closet that a) we can walk into and   b) can fit more than 5 shirts is a miracle. However, our closet is still not huge and we've had to maximize every square inch.

I keep our out of season clothes on the top shelf. In the winter, I'll switch out the sweaters with the summer clothes. I also keep my clothes color coordinated and hang shirts from sleeveless to long sleeve. The 3 white canvas bins hold socks, camis etc.

Over the door hanger from BB&B holds extra purses

Light-weight sweaters stacked by color

DH and I keep our sweatshirts/work out gear in plastic bins under the bed.

Guest Room

The mirror will be hung above the bed someday. It's low on my priority list right now.

Guest Bath

This room needs major help. Hoping to replace my sad furniture from college soon.

Any ideas on what to do with this unique corner?

Our street, which I love.

Fun Extra Stuff

I have to AW my DH. He just started painting for fun and I think he's pretty good. I hope to get these framed and hung soon.
