After not painting for the past couple of months, I have received some encouragement from a friend to get back into it, and I'm glad I have! I worked on a few new paintings this week, all oil on deep (1.5" profile) canvas.
Here they are:
My fondness for aspen is quite apparent to anyone I've been out in the woods with. That I studied them for a few years brought me closer to understanding this beautiful, pale-barked clonal species:
"Aspen Parkland"
14" x 18" oil painting on canvas
I also painted another vibrant prairie sunset, as these warm skies always teach me something:
"Golden Seam"
12" x 16" oil painting on canvas
And a small (but dramatic) prairie storm, that is certainly inspired by the work of Ian Sheldon:
"Upheaval"
8" x 8" oil painting on canvas
Behind the scenes of the Aspen Parkland painting. Our teak table is still paint-free (I hope)!
Hopefully these will be accepted into the "Small Treasures" art show at the Coast Collective Gallery in Victoria, B.C.
