Hi, my name is Kaye Ortman Peters. I was raised in northern Wisconsin, went to college in Eau Claire and spent some time living in Kentucky, Washington, D.C. and Montana before settling back down in northern Wisconsin.

I am a high school English teacher during the day and a superhero at night - actually a mom with two darling sons, one who has Down's Syndrome.  I have been married to Terry for 18 years.  He is self-employed and runs a logging business.  We like to travel, camp, cross country ski and fish.  Our extended family has four other children (all married and no longer children) and 14 grandchildren.  We live in the north woods of Wisconsin and love it.

I have an M.Ed and have taught English in the public schools for 16 years, 9 at the middle school level and 6 at the high school level.  I am also a certified reading instructor K-12.   I have taught a wide variety of courses over the years including Advanced Placement Composition, Native American Literature, Creative Writing and English 9 and 10.   Getting into online teaching seemed the logical next career move for me.  I love teaching and I love technology so it brings those things together and allows me to continue doing what I love while enabling me to reach out to a broader student base.

I can be reached at kortmanpeters@gmail.com or ortmanpetersk@my.uwstout.edu.

(I hope you enjoy the photos - I took them while on a trip to France in summer 2011 - a trip that had been on my bucket list for a long time.)
