Savory Palmiers



Puff pastry sheet (pepperidge farm): 1/2 sheet

Parmesan cheese: 1/4 cup grated

Red chilli flakes: 1 tbsp



Thaw the frozen puff sheet according the package instruction.

To make mini little hearts/palmiers. I cut the puff sheet in half .(shape of the sheet should be in rectangle shape)

In a clean work surface, sprinkle 2 tbsp of cheese.

Place the puff sheet on top of cheese worksurface

Sprinkle the remaining grated cheese and red chilli flakes.

Find the middle of the pastry sheet, start folding from the botton until the middle of sheet.

Now start folding from the top until you meet the middle.

Fold like a book now, you get like a log.

Keep refrigerate another 30 min.

Preheat the oven at 400 C.

Take a cookie sheet, cover with foil or parchement paper or silpad

Cut the log 1/2 inch wide, place in the sheet and pinch slightly the two rolls together (they won't unroll). To get the hearth shape, slightly open in middle.

The palmiers should be really spacious, they grow tremendously while baking.

Bake for 10 or 12 min until they turn golden brown on top.


For the sweet palmiers:

The other 1/2 of sheet can be turn into sweet version (palmier)

Sprinkle sugar and after cutting into little hearts dredge again in sugar and place in cookie sheet.
