The Champion Trailblazers is a non-profit organization dedicated to help promote recreational activities in the Champion, Michigan area and to help coordinate improvements at the Champion Horse Pulling Grounds. The group was formed in early 2011 when a small group of like-minded individuals met originally as a subcommittee of the Champion Township Planning Commission with the mission to begin facilitating improvements at the horse pulling grounds.
After a series of meetings, the group decided to incorporate as a non-profit organization. This process is currently underway. Brainstorming sessions led to the idea of constructing a multi-purpose, multi-use, indoor arena that would be township owned and operated, but available for individuals and groups to use for events such as horse shows, concerts, recreational shows for RV’s, boats, ATV’s, cars, etc., as well as serve as a year-round facility for horseback riding, training, and boarding. Plans include rustic and modern camping facilities, a commercial kitchen and dining area, concession areas, as well as seating for spectators for both indoor and outdoor events.
Fund raising is currently underway to begin specific planning and design for this arena.
