Big-Time Skiing in Vaujany!
Want to ski all day in a major ski area then escape to an unspoilt mountain hamlet far from the madding crowd?...then chalet Verney provides your ideal base.
Less than an hour's drive from Grenoble, the quintessentially french resort of Vaujany sits in a charming valley in the heart of the Oisans mountains with altitude views of Mont Blanc, Gran Paradiso and the Ecrins. Boasting one of the world's classic ski runs - the 'Champagne Run' - (a massive 2230m of vertical piste drop, click here) it provides world class piste and off-piste skiing for all abilities in a setting that is both magnificent and tranquil.
Vaujany village centre and its 160-man high speed gondola is a simple 3 minute drive (2km) or free bus ride from the chalet providing unequalled, mostly queue-free lift access to the entire Alpe d’Huez ski domain.
Overlooking its namesake, lake Verney - location of the Alpe d’Huez Triathlon swim - with arguably the best panorama of all Vaujany ski chalets, chalet Verney is a true home-from-home in the mountains within easy reach of Grenoble and Lyon main airports.
The chalet's wooden balconies and terrace provide outdoor dining with the most stunning alpine views in the entire Vaujany and Alpe d’Huez area, encompassing the Belledonne and Grandes Rousses peaks up to 3470m altitude.

A new Leisure Center:

An important investment has been made in order to improve the Vaujany "Leisure Center" sponsored by the famous 'Bruleurs de Loups' Ice Hockey Team, Grenoble.
This project implies the construction of several new wellness facilities in Vaujany.

An ice rink of 50*24m including grandstands with a capacity of 700, a day care center of approx 300m2, a spa where you can enjoy a sauna, hammam, massage or hydrotherapy session, a 6 track-bowling alley, a restaurant that can accommodate 120 people including a 50m2 terrace, and 120 parking spaces.
Access to the village is provided continuously by 2 funicular railway engines.

Summer activities, besides cycling, include peaceful alpine trail walks with incredible views starting from directly behind the chalet. This location is also ideal for challenging mountain bike trails adopting much of the Alpe d'Huez ski piste routes, and for a small village Vaujany boasts a superb modern leisure centre with state-of-the-art ice rink & bowling facilities, a 25m indoor heated pool, gym and sauna as well as award winning child facilities. Additionally, there are tennis courts at altitude, a children’s play area and a newly built bike park providing further facilities only a few minutes drive above Vaujany in the Collet area.

Cycling in Vaujany is hard to beat!

As well as skiers and walkers, the chalet welcomes Road and MTB cyclists who have access to their own large, secure garage space providing storage, track-pump, work stand and maintenance equipment.

The mountain road (Col du Sabot) from the chalets entrance provides access to some of the most renowned mountain passes in world cycling including the mythical 21 switchbacks of Alpe d'Huez itself - the chalet being situated on the course of the La Marmotte and La Vaujany cyclosportive bike road events whilst also being well located for mountain bikers finishing the famous Alpe d’Huez Megavalanche downhill!.
Also a great vantage point during the summer when the Tour de France often passes by.
Biking in this area is very challenging but equally rewarding!

Vaujany: A Secret Satellite…

As described by The Guardian newspaper

"The perfect example of a "secret satellite" resort, this pretty farming village has a high speed cable-car linking it to the mega resort of Alpe d'Huez, thanks to the proceeds of a huge hydro-electric project that was built on its terrain, so you can stay in peace then conquer a vast and varied area by day. The 15th-century Burgher's House is still the village's focal point, while The Swallow Bar and Stieff's pub provide low-key nightlife."
