Board Members

Leigh Ann Hargrove
Leigh Ann is a founding member of Birmingham Eastside Ecogardens (BEE),and is currently volunteering at the EcoFarm in Eastlake. Happy to be a new board member of the CGC in Bham, Leigh is hoping to be an advocate for promoting a healthier and more sustainable food network. As an RN, Leigh is passionate about providing healthy meals to her patients, and educating about healthy choices to the public.

Deanna Cummings
Deanna is a founding member of Birmingham Eastside Ecogardens (BEE), and is currently volunteering at the EcoFarm in Eastlake. An avid herb and mushroom gardener, Deanna is hoping to educate about different gardening methods, promote innovativegardening throughout Birmingham and is passionate about the development of Community through gardening.


Doug Shaddix
Doug Shaddix is a co-founder of the North 32nd St. Community Garden, and a proponent of the community gardening movement in Birmingham.  He is renovating an historic home in Norwood near the garden.  Doug is putting his ingenuity to work in rainwater harvesting and composting systems.  Through his work at Erdreich Architecture he has been involved in many construction projects in and around downtown Birmingham, and is a proponent of sustainable architecture.  

Katie Davis
Katie is the Farm Manager for the Jones Valley Urban Farm's Park Place Farm. She sits on the board of the Alabama Sustainable Agriculture Network, and is an active supporter of local farming and community gardens. She is an alumni of the University of California's Center for Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems Ecological Horticulture Program. Prior to managing Jones Valley, Katie worked as an agricultural technician and assistant garden manager; instructing propagation for the UC Santa Cruz's Farm and Garden Program, and co-leading the Social Justice Advocacy Committee.

Andy Olds, AIA, LEED AP
Andy is a co-founder of the Community Garden Coalition for Birmingham.  He is currently pursing a law degree at Cumberland School of Law at Samford University.  An Architect and LEED Accredited Professional, Andy is passionate about sustainability and making Birmingham a greener, healthier city.

Gail Harper Yeilding
Gail Harper, "GH", "Harper," or many other names for short is a co-founder of the Community Garden Coalition for Birmingham.  The name she is the most proud of is Ms. Y.
