Welcome

Welcome to the Cupertino-Fremont-Sunnyvale Council of PTAs (CFSCPTA) website.

CFSCPTA includes a total of 28 PTA/PTSAs.  Eighteen of these are in the Cupertino Union School District (CUSD), 5 in the Fremont Union High School District (FUHSD) and 5 are in the Sunnyvale School District (SSD).

Our council is a member of the 6th district PTA of the Santa Clara County. We serve as a resource for

all things pertaining to PTA policy, to hold meetings with PTA representatives from all schools to

find a common ground to effectively advocate for our children and to provide leadership training for PTA officers.

Honorary Service Award

Honorary Service Awards (HSA)

Please help Sixth District PTA honor a remarkable person or group that has impacted the children at the county level in Santa Clara, Monterey, Santa Cruz or San Benito counties.  The Honorary Service Awards Committee needs your input.  Please help us bestow an honorary service award.  Send suggestions with a bit of information as to why you are suggesting this person or organization, to Diane Foote at dmfoote@gmail.com  or Marcie Brown at marcie@brown-family.com by Monday, January 25.

The Honorary Service Award is given by units, councils and districts to recognize individuals and organizations for outstanding community service to children and youth. More information about the awards can be found on CA State PTA's HSA page.

Parliamentarian

The Most Important Committee

It might seem early, but it's a great time to start thinking about who would be wonderful to serve on your unit's nominating committee.

***********************************************************************
True or False
1. The president appoints the nominating committee.
2. The principal automatically is a member of the nominating committee.
***********************************************************************

Most units need to elect their nominating committees in January or February (please check your bylaws for the exact month).

Answers:
  1. False - The nominating committee is the only PTA committee that is not appointed by the president.
  2. False - The principal may be elected as a member of the nominating committee. If not elected, the principal should at least be an advisor to the group.

Auditor Training:  How to Perform a PTA Audit

Your bylaws indicate that a mid-year audit needs to be
done in December or January.
  • Learn how to review the documents of the PTA to perform a PTA audit.
  • Learn about the complete audit report - which needs to be submitted - including Audit Report form, the Audit checklist, and any of the auditor's recommendations and/or findings.
  • This class is good for the PTA auditor, treasurer, secretary, president or any other officer interested in protecting the assets of the PTA.

Parliamentarian:  Nominations, Elections, the Bylaws Update Process and other fun topics!

An elected nominating committee is essential to finding officers for your election!

Units who believe they can't find leaders for the coming year invariably rely on just a handout asking for volunteers, and have not elected a nominating committee.
  • Nominations, elections, and bylaws - oh my!
  • So much for the Parliamentarian to do!
  • It's a privilege to serve on the PTA Nominating Committee, and the Parliamentarian will get this important committee started soon to prepare for the 2015-16 officer election.
  • The election process should follow a well defined process; learn how to conduct a PTA election.
  • And bylaws - oh my!  Updating bylaws isn't hard when you know what you're doing.
  • Spend some time reviewing these important Parliamentarian duties.
