What is on this site?
  • Back in 2013, I was studying for the Level 3 CFA exam and I decided to put my notes online.
  • I updated the notes for 2014 and 2015.
Why did you update the notes for 2014 and 2015?
So are these notes up to date for... whatever year we're in now?
  • No.
  • I cannot stress this enough, no.
  • There have been many changes to the Level 3 curriculum since the last time these notes.
  • Entire readings have been replaced and there is stuff on this site that is no longer in the curriculum.
I am still somewhat unclear about the message that you are trying to convey. Is it possible for you to express it more bluntly?
  • PLEASE. DO. NOT. ASSUME. THAT. ANYTHING. ON. THIS. SITE. IS. CONSISTENT. WITH. THE. CURRENT. VERSION. OF. THE. CURRICULUM.
Why haven't you update your notes since 2015?
  • Because I'm too busy writing prep materials for AdaptPrep.
  • As much as I'd like to update this website every year for free, there just isn't enough time.
  • Sorry.
Why are you sorry?
  • Because I'm Canadian and we have to say "sorry" every six seconds or we'll die.
So if I go to AdaptPrep, I'll find more stuff like this?
  • Are you high?
  • No, if you go to AdaptPrep, you'll find proper study materials that have gone through an actual professional editorial process.
Can I e-mail you? Do you even have a name?
  • For answers to those questions, go here.
Why did you put your notes online in the first place?
  • I passed the Level 1 and Level 2 exams the first time I wrote them.
  • Then I took a few years off because I had kids and I never had time to do anything anymore.
  • When I got around to writing Level 3 in 2013, I wanted a place to put my notes in a place where my kids couldn't destroy them.
  • Also, there is a lot of overlap between the readings and it helps to be able to quickly link to related material.
Why are your notes written in a conversational style?
  • I didn't plan that.
  • I didn't plan anything about this site.
  • It came out of a lot of late nights studying and getting frustrated.
  • I find that it's easier to learn something if you put yourself in the position of having to teach it.
  • Also, I like sarcasm.
So you put your notes online and used a bunch of sarcasm and passed Level 3 in 2013 and lived happily ever after?
  • Not so much.
  • I failed the Level 3 exam (Band 8) in 2013 because I mismanaged my time in the morning session.
But then you passed Level 3 in 2014 and lived happily ever after?
  • No.
  • I failed the Level 3 exam (Band 9) in 2014 because I mismanaged my time in the morning session.
2015?
  • Yes, I did finally pass in 2015, which is good because I like spending time with my kids again.
