321: What a Day.
So it is one of those days. I got woke up to the fact that my Dad had an accident with hot water heater. We had no hot water so he went to relight the furnace and got his hair singed off and burned his hand (bad). He is okay and we had Excel out to fix it and we now have hot water (good). Made calls to my relocation agent. Looks like I have a housing incidental account (good!) Also called the moving company and they can pack me up on Wed. and move me in on Fri. (Very Good!) I also called Comcast and have a set up date for cabel and internet. (good) Went to the tailor to get pants hemed up, that I had been delaying on. Then went to Best Buy to double check if I need to replace my battery. It is a good thing I did because it is actually my adaptor that needs to be replaced so I ordered that tonight as well. (both good and bad) Also stopped by Sprint to see why phone battery wouldn't last a day. Turns out that they only design phones to last on avearge two years. My phone lasted 3 years better then avearge but it still pisses me off. And buying a replacement battery costed more then getting a new phone so I have a new phone. I have spent all night reading the manuel and trying to figure it out. (bad) I could have used this time to do more productive things. Like ordering my new couch which will fit in my new apartment. (good) They called today an confirmed that indeed it will fit through my place as long as the legs are off when moving it in! I'm really excited about it.
180/365 : Paper 3 - A Meeting
Invitation for a meeting with all the owners in our building. The heater's dying and needs to be replaced asap. But it'll cost somewhere between 34.000 and 56.000 euro. And it'll be at least a week without hot water and heating. Not really looking forward to that one. Anyway, I was on a roll during the meeting. We weren't given many options, let alone clear information about all cost-aspects, other possibilities or vendors. Seems we were just supposed to hand over at least 600 euro within a month to get it fixed somewhere within the next 4 months. Yeah right ... not gonna happen. I had some pretty difficult to answer questions ready and wasn't afraid to use 'em. End result ? We got extra info, a lot of people saw the level of incompetence from the buildingmaintenance crew and we'll only have to pay when the works are done.
