Biography

I have received my degree in Biochemistry from the University of Lisbon (1990), Master in Cellular Chemistry (1997) and PhD in Biochemistry (2004) from the University of Algarve. My current interests include:
  • Study of plant resistance molecular mechanisms involved in host-pathogen interactions.
  • Identification and characterization of genes involved in the interaction Q. suber/P. cinnamomi.
  • Identification of molecular markers in cork oak correlated with cork quality and tolerance to decline disease.
  • Identification of virulent chemicals (toxins) in the culture medium of phytopathogenic fungi.
  • Metabolome and transcriptome data related with the interaction between Q. suber and P. cinnamomi
  • Early detection of cork tree decline disease by optical methods (just starting)
