The center


CEOT is a research center based on the University of Algarve, Portugal. We are an interdisciplinary team working in the areas of electronics, optoelectronics and telecommunications. Both in the theoretical and experimental sides, we have concentrated recently on electronic devices characterization, novel optoelectronic devices for telecommunications, communication networks and optoelectronic sensing in biology.



Our objectives


  1. Develop new devices, concepts, methods, and techniques in telecommunications and electronics supported by prototypes and scientific publications.
  2. Facilitate the exchange of scientists and students amongst groups with diverse research capabilities and interests to promote interdisciplinary research in wireless and optical networks, organic electronics and biosensing.
  3. Provide training and state-of-the-art facilities to some of the teaching activities of the University of the Algarve in particular at Master and PhD levels.
  4. Promote the mobility and exchange of students between CEOT and other universities and centers of excellence in Portugal and Europe.
  5. Establish effective partnerships with industry, universities and other laboratories.
  6. Train scientists that can be embedded into the industry and act as catalyst to develop the Portuguese and European technology.
  7. Increase public awareness about the research conducted within CEOT as well as their impact in the prestige of the University and of the Algarve region.
