Central Regional Sports Hall of Fame


Central Regional Staff,

The Central Regional School District will be inducting 6 new members into our athletic hall of fame. I have attached each ones bio with a picture.  The ceremony will take place in our Gymnasium  Foyer on Saturday, September 23rd  prior to our Varsity Football Game vs. Jackson Memorial.  The induction will take place at 6:30 PM and the 6 individuals will again be honored at halftime.  I am sure some of the recipients would love to see you on this day.


ERIKA APPLEGATE-WALTON

ERIKA APPLEGATE-WALTON IS A 1994 GRADUATE OF CENTRAL. SHE WAS A 4 YR. VARSITY STARTER IN SOFTBALL PLAYING 2B, 3B, AND CATCHER. DURING THOSE 4 YEARS, SHE WAS A 2ND TEAM ALL-STATE SELECTION, AND TWICE NAMED TO 2ND TEAM ALL-SHORE AND  ALL-COUNTY.  ERIKA’S CAREER STATS INCLUDE 94 HITS, 9 DOUBLES, 9 TRIPLES, 8 HRs, AND

74 RBIs. SHE HAD A CAREER BATTING AVERAGE OF .318 AND FIELDING AVERAGE OF.948. ERIKA LED CRHS TO 3 CONSECUTIVE B-SOUTH CHAMPIONSHIPS, AN OCEAN COUNTY TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP IN WHICH SHE WAS THE MVP, AND A SHORE CONFERENCE TITLE. ERIKA PLAYED SOFTBALL AT MONMOUTH UNIVERSITY WHERE SHE WAS A 2 TIME ALL NEC SELECTION, 2ND TEAM ALL ECAC REGION AND TEAM CAPTAIN. IN 1998, ERIKA WAS A NOMINEE FOR MU WOMAN OF THE YEAR. WHILE AT MONMOUTH, SHE HAD A CAREER BATTING AVERAGE OF .338 WITH 188 HITS, 27 DOUBLES, 20 TRIPLES 8 HRs, AND 106 RBIs. ERIKA IS AMONG THE CAREER STAT LEADERS AT MONMOUTH IN RUNS SCORED, RBIs, TRIPLES, AND WALKS. ERIKA IS CURRENTLY A PHYSICAL THERAPIST.




HARRIE GARRIS


HARRIE GARRIS, CLASS OF 1986 WAS A THREE YEAR VARSITY BASKETBALL STARTER AT CENTRAL REGIONAL PLAYING BOTH POWER FORWARD AND POINT GUARD.  DURING HIS CAREER, HARRIE BECAME A MEMBER OF THE 1000 POINTS SCORER CLUB.  IN BOTH HIS JUNIOR AND SENIOR YEARS, HARRIE SERVED AS TEAM CAPTAIN, NAMED TEAM MVP AND RECEIVED THE HONOR OF BEING SELECTED TO THE ALL-SHORE 1ST TEAM. HE WAS SELECTED TO THE WOBM 1ST TEAM, NAMED WOBM PLAYER OF THE YEAR, ALL CLEAR CHANNEL 8- 1ST TEAM AND NAMED 2ND TEAM ALL-STATE ALL IN HIS SENIOR YEAR. AT CENTRAL REGIONAL, HARRIE RANKED 2ND IN ALL TIME INDIVIDUAL CAREER POINTS 1515,  CAREER REBOUNDS 708, AND CAREER FREE THROWS MADE 321.  HARRIE WENT ON TO MONMOUTH UNIVERSITY AND PLAYED BASKETBALL ON A SCHOLARSHIP. 



 

 















CHRIS ALAN GNEHM

CHRIS GNEHM IS A 1992 GRADUATE OF CENTRAL REGIONAL. CHRIS WAS A VARSITY STARTER IN GOAL HIS JUNIOR AND SENIOR SEASONS FOR THE GOLDEN EAGLES. CHRIS EARNED 1ST TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE, 1ST TEAM ALL-SHORE, 1ST TEAM ALL-STATE GROUP 3, AND WAS ALSO NAMED TO THE PRESTIGIOUS 1ST TEAM ALL-STATE BEING RECOGNIZED AS ONE OF THE TOP TWO GOALKEEPERS IN THE STATE HIS SENIOR SEASON. HE WAS THE FIRST GOLDEN EAGLES SOCCER PLAYER TO EARN THIS HONOR. CHRIS ATTENDED AVERETT COLLEGE WHERE HE WAS A 4 YEAR STARTER AND 3 YEAR CAPTAIN. HE HOLDS VASID RECORDS FOR SAVES IN A SEASON 213, AND CAREER 678. HE EARNED HIS BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN EDUCATION. AFTER COLLEGE, CHRIS BEGAN HIS COLLEGE COACHING CAREER AND IS CURRENTLY THE HEAD WOMEN’S SOCCER COACH AT PALM BEACH ATLANTIC UNIVERSITY. HE LIVES IN JUPITER, FLORIDA WITH HIS WIFE TIFFANY AND THEIR SON BODHI.









FAITH CLYBURN


FAITH CLYBURN IS A 2005 GRADUATE OF CENTRAL. SHE WAS A 4 YEAR VARSITY STARTER IN SPRING TRACK AND A 3 YEAR VARSITY STARTER IN FIELD HOCKEY AND BASKETBALL.  SHE ENJOYED THE HONOR OF BEING NAMED MVP 6 TIMES DURING HER 3 SPORT CAREER. IN FIELD HOCKEY, FAITH WAS NAMED 1ST TEAM ALL-COUNTY AND 1ST TEAM ALL-SHORE. IN BASKETBALL,SHE RANKS 2ND IN CAREER STEALS WITH 236, 5TH IN CAREER REBOUNDS WITH 516 AND HOLDS THE RECORD FOR REBOUNDS IN A SINGLE GAME, 2O. TRACK & FIELD WAS FAITH’S MAIN SPORT. SHE WAS 1ST TEAM-ALL COUNTY, ALL-SHORE, AND ALL-STATE. SHE PLACED 2ND IN THE STATE MEET OF CHAMPIONS FOR TRIPLE JUMP WITH A JUMP OF 37’7. SHE IS THE SCHOOL RECORD HOLDER IN THE 200, TRIPLE JUMP AND A MEMBER OF THE RECORD SETTING 4X400 RELAY TEAM. FAITH RECEIVED A FULL TRACK SCHOLARSHIP TO FAIRLEIGH DICKINSON UNIVERSITY. FAITH IS EMPLOYED AT CENTRAL AS A PARAPROFESSIONAL WHERE SHE COACHES FIELD HOCKEY, GIRLS BASKETBALL AND GIRLS SPRING TRACK & FIELD.



 















DAN DUDDY

DAN WAS HIRED AS BOTH HEAD FOOTBALL COACH AND TEACHER AT CENTRAL IN 1992.

HE WAS THE ASST. COACH FOR THE GIRLS VAR. BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM AND GIRLS TRACK 4X400 RELAY TEAM, THAT INCLUDED HIS DAUGHTER, AILEEN, FINISHING 5TH IN THE STATE. HIS FOOTBALL TEAMS ACHIEVED TEN STRAIGHT WINNING SEASONS INCLUDING A B-SOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP IN 1994, 5 STATE QUALIFICATIONS, AND A HEARTBREAKING LOSS IN A STATE FINAL AT HIS ALMA MATER, BRICK. HE EARNED 6 COACH OF THE YEAR HONORS, COACHED THE OCEAN COUNTY FOOTBALL ALL-STARS MULTIPLE TIMES, AND THE NEW JERSEY FOOTBALL ALL-STARS AGAINST NEW YORK IN THE GOVERNOR’S BOWL. DAN STARTED A SCHOOL-WIDE MENTORING PROGRAM IN 2002 WHICH CONTINUES TO GROW TODAY. HE IS HONORED IN A HALL OF FAME SPONSORED BY THE CHICAGO BEARS, JERSEY SHORE SPORTS, BRICK H.S., AND CENTRAL REGIONAL.

 

NEARLY 500 PLAYERS SIGNED THE “WE WILL” SIGN,

THE GLUE OF THE BROTHERHOOD THAT COACH DUDDY BUILT.




BOB BREITENBACH


BOB BREITENBACH GRADUATED FROM CENTRAL REGIONAL IN 1967. HE WAS A 4 YEAR LETTERMAN IN FOOTBALL, EXCELLING IN THE POSITIONS OF HALFBACK & DEFENSIVE SAFETY. BOB WAS NAMED TEAM MVP AND 1ST TEAM ALL-COUNTY IN HIS SENIOR YEAR WHILE LEADING THE COUNTY IN SCORING. BOB ALSO EARNED A VARSITY LETTER IN BASEBALL PLAYING CATCHER & CENTER FIELD FOR THE GOLDEN EAGLES.  BOB WAS DRAFTED INTO THE ARMY AFTER HIGH SCHOOL AND SPENT A YEAR IN VIETNAM AND UPON RETURN FROM THERE, FINISHED HIS REMAINING YEAR AT FORT BRAGG, NORTH CAROLINA IN THE POSITION OF SERGEANT. BOB PLAYED MODIFIED PITCH SOFTBALL IN MANY LEAGUES AROUND OCEAN COUNTY WITH HENRY’S PLAYLAND AS HIS FAVORITE TEAM. IN 1984, HIS TEAM WON THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP AND BOB WAS NAMED MVP OF THE TOURNAMENT. IN 2015, BOB WAS INDUCTED INTO THE N.J. MODIFIED PITCH SOFTBALL HALL OF FAME. BOB WAS A BUILDER FOR 45 YEARS AND HAD HIS OWN BUSINESS FOR 40 YEARS. HE RETIRED IN JANUARY 2017.
