About Library

Inspired by the life and ideals of Maharaja Surajmal, a great Indian patriot and enlightened ruler of Bharatpur during the eighteenth century. “Surajmal Memorial Education Society” is registered under Societies Registration Act 1860 and was founded in 1972 at Janakpuri to emulate the great qualities of Maharaja Surajmal with an aim to impart quality education in rural as well as urban areas. Academic Programmes were started with the introduction of certificate and Diploma courses in various technical streams in 1982. 

Maharaja Surajmal Institute was established in 1999 and got affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, in Delhi for providing degree in various programmes like BBA, BCA, B.Com, B.Ed from the academic session 1999-2000. 

Maharaja Surajmal Institue of Technology was established in 2001 with the approval of AICTE and is affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, in Delhi for providing B.Tech Degree from the academic session 2001-2002. 


Maharaja Surajmal Central Library (MSCL) was started in the year 1982 with a meager collection of Books and Journals. At present, MSCL library maintains well-accomplished stock of Text and Reference Books, Project Reports, Journals & Periodicals, Audio-Visuals, CDs, E-Resources etc. pertaining to different topics of our educational programs.

Maharaja Surajmal Central Library supports the teaching of two Institutes namely, Maharaja Surajmal Institute and Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology. All students, faculty members and employees of the Institute are entitled to make use of the Library facilities on taking library membership. 

The Library has a well-stocked fully computerized library with latest editions of books by eminent authors & is having a huge collection of books on education, management & Commerce, computer science, engineering, science and humanities to cater to the needs and requirements of the faculty as well as students.

Library has also a Research Wing namely “Research and Publication Centre” for scholars where they can refer to reference material and rare collections of manuscripts for their research work. The Research and Publication Centre is devoted to selecting, analyzing and publishing research material in the hither to neglected areas of history, culture and sociology of the present communities with special reference to Northern India.
