Scott Rice

Scott Rice grew up in the Sacramento suburb of Citrus Heights and attended San Juan High School where he for started playing in a jazz band. After graduating in 1987, Scott went to Sacramento State University as a music major, playing baritone sax and lead alto under the direction of Professor Herb Harrison. Scott transferred to Cal Poly University San Luis Obispo and pursued his Liberal Studies degree while playing in the jazz band (alto sax), symphonic band (oboe), and the marching band (assistant drum major).
Scott started playing with the legendary No Deadwood Big Band at Cuesta College in the early 90's and played for many years with the Clint Garvin Band.

After starting a family, Scott took some time off from the the music scene. He is very happy to be welcomed into the Central City Swing band in January of 2019 and has no plans to stop any time soon.

Scott says,"Playing jazz makes my heart happy."
