The 2014 annual CABA potluck will be Monday, May 12th at 6:30 PM CT at the Levy Church of Christ pavilion.

We had 86 folks for our annual potluck and the food sure was tasty. I could have eaten the entire strawberry cake in one sitting. J Huge thanks to Jay Scott & Melissa Mencer for coordinating the food as well as all the folks bringing equipment to cook the food, bringing tasty food, and helping to clean up!

Beginning Beekeeper Class 2014 planned!
The 2014 Beginning Beekeeping Class was a success. We had 5 folks participate.
Participants received the book Honey Bees and Beekeeping: A Year in the Life of an Apiary.
Our teachers included Jon Zawislak with the UA Cooperative Extension Service, Aman Minick with the Arkansas Plant Board Apiary Section and Harvey Johnston our CABA program chair.
Huge thanks to all the volunteers that make this possible!
Arkansas Flower & Garden Show
The Central Arkansas Beekeepers Association had a booth at the Arkansas Flower & Garden Show again this year.
Folks love the honey drink, local honey, and the observation hive. Our booth looked AWESOME. :) Thanks so much to all the volunteers that make this happen!
Arkansas Beekeepers Association Spring Meeting
The Arkansas Beekeepers Association will hold its Spring Conference and Beekeeping Trade Show in Fayetteville on March 7 and 8, 2014 at the UofA Pauline Whitaker Animal Science Arena.
The conference will be an educational event with speakers and demonstration presentations. The theme of the program is “Practical Beekeeping for 2014.” Our speakers will include Stephen Repasky, a Pennsylvania wildlife biologist and master beekeeper, Dr. Don Steinkraus of the University of Arkansas, Ft. Smith beekeeper Michael Vaughn, Jon Zawislak of University of Arkansas Extension, Fayetteville beekeeper Larry Tompkins, Missouri beekeeper and author Dr. Leonid Sharashkin, Marion, Arkansas master gardener Dr. Christina Underhill, and Mountain Home beekeeper James Rhein.
The Fall Meeting is at the Ozark Folk Center State Park in Mountain View on October 10 and 11, 2014.
