Phantom Noises in England

Case #: 20110322
Status: Closed
City: Chichester
State: England
Notes: We referred this couple to the TAPS affiliates in the UK Email inquiry: I am wondering if you can possibly help me. I live in Southern England near to Chichester and my wife and I are being troubled by some rather unexplainable and disturbing incidents such as horrible smells like decaying flesh and objects dissapearing and re-appearing in the most unlikely places. We are woken up at frequently by the sound of doors banging and footsteps running up and down stairs. The incidents are getting more frequent and more disturbing. We have engaged the help of a priest to try and help us with exorcism but to no avail. I have been scouring the internet to try and find help and you appear to be the most credible organization. I know that you are the other side of the Atlantic Ocean but we thought that you might be able to suggest someone here in England who just might be able to help. By the way our house is very old having been built about the year 1220.

Michies Tavern

posted Feb 18, 2014, 10:58 AM by Tommy Amos

Case #: 20110320
Status: Open
City: Charlottesville
State: VA
Notes: CPRI will be conducting ongoing investigations at the tavern. We are now the official "Paranormal Research Society" for the tavern. We plan to conduct our annual boot camp at Michies in the late summer of 2011. Michies Tavern is a historic tavern that dates back to the late 1700s. It was moved brick by brick to its current location on Jefferson Parkway in the early 1900s. There are numerous ghost stories about the tavern that have persisted for years. In the fall of 2001 a PBS crew shooting a documentary about haunted and historic places in VA had claims of hearing a male whistling in the basement when no one was around. CPRI conducted an investigation in early 2011 where many members had some personal experiences. However the group was not able to prove or disprove the validity of these experiences. However it is worthy to continue researching this place due to its long history of paranormal phenomena.

Caskets in the Basement

posted Feb 18, 2014, 10:44 AM by Tommy Amos   [ updated Feb 18, 2014, 10:45 AM ]

Case #: 20081108
Status: Open
City: Winchester
State: VA
Notes: This is a complex case. It involved a new tenant and the old one. A new young family - single mother and her 3 kids moved into a ranch style house in Winchester,VA. The family immediately began to experience paranormal phenomena to include seeing apparations hearing footsteps, and strange sounds. The former tenant, also a single mother, said the spirit in the house didn't like the new tenant. CPRI conducted an investigation and psych assessments of both parties involved. Although EVPs were captured the mother living in the house was caught in web of lies and even her neighbors admitted to catching her faking some of the phenomena. The woman who requested our help was evicted a short time later and left the state. CPRI was unable to do an investigation because we couldn't be certain the evidence wasn't tainted. The owner of the house said if anything happens in the future she would contact us.

Cohoke Lights

Case #: 20041010
Status: Closed
City: King William
State: VA
Notes: The Stuff of Legend
It seems the Cohoke Lights are known world over by ghost story lovers. A phantom light appears, advances over the railroad tracks like a locomotie headlamp - then vanishes without a trace. The first version of the story is the light is a "latern" believed to be guiding a brakeman down the railway who's missing something - his head!

Another version states that the boys in gray battle worn uniforms endlessly ride the rails. The light is believed to be that of a "ghost train" that disappears right before it gets to the crossing.
