Placement Testing

All incoming students must take a placement test unless waived due to previous college credit that can be counted towards the degree or high standardized test scores.  There are four sections of the placement test:  Essay, Reading Comprehension, Arithmetic, and Elementary Algebra (a sentence skills section may be administered if the essay score is borderline).  We prefer placement tests to be scheduled, but walk-ins are welcome depending on testing room availability.  We encourage students who are still in high school to wait about one or two months before graduation to take the placement test as they are finishing their English and/or Math courses as well as finishing their ACT's/SAT's.  We have found students tend to do better on the placement if they do wait.

If students score high enough, they might be asked to take the College Math test as well.
