Oak Park Cemetery

Located at 8400 Hirsch, east of Hwy 59. 454 F First listed in the Houston City Directory in 1935. Golden Gate cemetery in the back of this cemetery with old one up front and newer one in back. In 1992 it was said to be in bad shape. John Bill Hood, a negro who was a personal servant for General Bell Hood during the Civil War is buried here. He died in 1936 and was said to be 103 years old. When I went there the north side was in great shape but the south side still had heavy over growth.
