The first City Cemetery, located 1217 West Dallas at Valentine in the center of 4th Ward.

Ca. 1836

Texas pioneers and those who died from yellow fever.

Near the entrance stood a large Hanging Tree.

The state marker's are not where they should be and were spend out in the graveyard more or less.

After this cemetery City Cemetery II was started over on Girard at Elder, that ended up under Old Jefferson Davis Hospital......

One of Houston's oldest cemeteries ---dedicated to the city as a memorial park for early pioneers---is suffering not from neglect, but from indifference.
