1836 Mexican Burial Grounds

By George E. Wolf Jr./2009

1836 Mexican Burial Site-San Jacinto Battle Grounds.

1838 survey made reference to a "burial ground" on the McCormick league.

The west line of the McCormick survey ran near the burial ground of San Jacinto.

Bonewitz indicates the burial ground as being 460 varas south of the point established on Buffalo Bayou as the northeast corner of the 'Ross Headright".

This was the likely postion for the burial of the Mexican dead.

To date it has not been found.
