Personal Goals

1.  Maintain self-efficacy.
2.  Align my personal educational goals to international standards, as well as local and regional standards.
3.  Strive to uphold and advocate for high quality international standards.
4.  Always keep personal health, and a high quality of life at the top of the list both individually and for students and community players.
5.  Always seek out like-minded professionals for collaboration.
6.  Maintain and promote curriculum based on Health, Language, and Arts.
7.  Strive to promote and find a balance between Technology and Health.
8.  Promote social and individual development in others.
9.  Advocate for students and promote them to self-advocate.
10.  Always strive to involve the community in schooling efforts.
11.  Defend the Schools: Defend the Earth.

 

Professional Objective Alignment

The National Association for the Education of Young Children goal 6.2, is a good summary of what I would like to achieve. I want to "work effectively over time" with people of diverse ages, with people with diverse abilities, reflecting culturally and linguistically diverse family systems.

I found alignment of  my goals with 6 national and 2 international organizational standards: the Associantion for Chilhood International (ACEI), the International Reading Association (IRA), the American Association of Health Education (AAHE), the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS), the National Education Technology Standards-Teachers (NSES-T), the National Science Education Standards-Teaching Standards (NETS-T), and the Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).

The National Board of Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) goal  #4 [Teachers think systematically about their practice and learn from experience] embodies basic concepts that I will follow for making myself a better teacher.

          I will strive to be an accomplished teacher who is a model of an educated person, exemplifying the virtues I seek to inspire in my students -- curiosity, tolerance, honesty, fairness, respect for diversity and appreciation of cultural differences -- and the capacities that are prerequisites for intellectual growth, the ability to reason and take multiple perspectives to be creative and take risks, and to adopt an experimental and problem-solving orientation.

         I will draw on my knowledge of human development, subject matter and instruction, and understanding of my students to make principled judgments about sound practice. I will make decisions not only grounded in literature, but also from experience. I will continue to engage in lifelong learning, which I hope to seek to encourage in my students

         I will always strive to strengten my teaching, as an accomplished teacher I will critically examine my practie, seek to expand my repertoire, deepen my knowledge, sharpen my judgement and adapt my teaching to new findings, ideas and theories.

 

Plan of Action

I want to be a part of a full-service community school. I will provide integration of academic, developmental, family, and health services to children and the families of a community. I have studied many things in my life and I want to bring all of my knowledge and resources together. I will finish my Masters Degree in Alterniative Education, learn a language, network with professionals and prepare myself to the best of my ability, so that I can bring a good Quality of Life to my family and to the families in my extended community. I want to help empower all the individuals and families that I can by providing a supported and resourceful center where learning can thrive.

 

 

Obstacles
I am sure that there will be many obstacles along the way, but I prefer to cross that bridge when I get to it, then I can move to the next bridge and so on and so on. For now I'll just focus on everything positive.

Timeline
Phase 1 - Preparation - In the next 5 years I hope to finish my education with Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania, build community resources in the field of education, learn Spanish, and begin to build community in Valencia, Spain.
Phase 2 - Implementation - Actually organizing resources and opening up a full service community school will begin. I don't have a timeline for this part. It will take time and maybe it won't actually be feasible in my lifetime to the extent of being everything I have always hoped for, but it is my mission and I will do my best to manifest my dreams, because if I don't, who will.
