CHANGES to Syllabus and Exams

IMPORTANT EXAM CHANGES EFFECTIVE JANUARY 2015
Exam Length increases
  • TIME INCREASE FOR TEACHER EXAMS
  • -- Teacher Exams for Grades 1-4 will increase to 2 hours
  • -- Elementary (V) Teacher Exam will increase to 2 hours 15 minutes
  • TIME INCREASE FOR STUDENT EXAMS
  • -- Student Grade 3 Exam will increase to 1 hour 15 minutes
  • -- Student Grade 4 Exam will increase to 1 hour 30 minutes
  • -- Diploma will increase to 3 hours with candidate and 1 hour additional of Examiner Evaluation time
Fee increases

Syllabus changes
  • SYLLABUS CHANGES:  Elementary (V) syllabus changes presented in 2013 and 2014 at the National Seminar will now be mandatory for all student and teacher examinations.  The Elementary changes can be found at www.cecchetti.org under "Latest News."   Teacher members log in on the Products and Materials page to gain access to this information.
Teacher Exam requirements
  • Candidate Resume.  All teacher candidates are required to submit a resume before each Teachers Examination.

Examination Length Changes effective January 2013.
The CCA Examining Board announced in fall 2012 that the following changes to examination length would be effective in January 2013:

        ELEMENTARY:
        2 candidates -- 1-1/2 hours
        3 candidates -- 1-3/4 hours    

        INTERMEDIATE:
        2 candidates -- 1-3/4 hours
        3 candidates -- 2 hours (with special permission only) 

        ADVANCED:
        1 candidate -- 2 hours
  
Things to note in the new syllabus books that will be required for examinations in 2011. 
The CCA Examining Board announced in mid-2009 that the following changes and additions to the Graded Syllabus would be required by January 2011:

    GRADE ONE:
    Theory of the head in a pirouette
    First Arabesque raised leg on both sides
    Chassé—as a basic step
    Boys 1/4 tour en l’air

    GRADE TWO:
    Chassé —shown in the basic steps

    GRADE THREE:
    Theory—4th and 5th arabesques with chassé
    Second port de bras—described
    Traditional Cecchetti pirouette ending

    GRADE IV:
    Sequence of eight body positions
    Adage basic steps: First and Second Arabesque croisé
    Allegro basic steps: Royale, entrechat quatre, sissone en arriérée, ouvert and fermée
    Pre-pointe basic steps: posé développé, pas de bourrée piqué
