Please see below for links to websites, journals, and blogs that you may find helpful. In addition to providing pertinent information, many also provide sample lesson plans and links to other supplementary materials.




Google Art Project provides a massive online collection for viewing.

Big History Project encourages students to examine the authority, evidence, and logic of claims across disciplines and to construct a thoughtful approach as they engage with new ideas.

The Densho website documents the unjust incarceration of Japanese Americans during World War II.

Resources include firsthand accounts, historical images, and other teacher resources.

The econedlink is an online source which supplies economics and personal finance resources for grades K-12.

EDSITEment! focuses on the humanities featuring lesson plans and student resources in Art & Culture, Foreign Language, History & Social Studies, and Literature & Language Arts.

Facing History and Ourselves offers resources to help teach students about racism, anti-Semitism, and prejudice. The site offers project ideas, lesson plans, videos, readings, and more.

The Khan Academy offers over 3,200 videos on subjects including arithmetic, physics, finance, and history. It also offers a Teacher Toolkit that includes direction on navigating the site, setting up classes to use the site, and a table that aligns the videos with Common Core Standards.

The Library of Congress website hosts a wealth of information for numerous topics. The site also includes a page supporting the Teaching with Primary Sources Program which is a valuable resource for addressing Common Core standards. In conjunction with this program, MTSU also provides information about using primary sources and upcoming workshops via a monthly newsletter. Live Science offers news and information covering both natural and technological discoveries.

Mind/Shift is a blog that explores current thoughts and trends in education. It has informative articles which cover research, policy, cultural and technology trends.

MIT BLOSSOMS is another good site for accessing quality math and science videos and lesson materials.

NOVA Labs|PBS provides an opportunity for students to actively participate in the scientific process. Each lab presents the a research challenge or activity that allows the student to explore a new data set and/or scientific phenomenon.

Popular Science includes latest science news, articles, and an expansive video section.

Purdue OWL provides instruction for writing, researching, and citing sources. It also includes a tab for Teacher and Tutor Resources which includes pages geared specifically towards 7-12 grade instructors and students, writing across the curriculum, teaching poetry and creative nonfiction, and more.

The readwritethink website shares resources which promote and support literacy learning.

AAAS ScienceNetLinks website contains lessons, tools, science news, and more.

Smithsonian Education provides resources for educators, families, and students. Educators can search resources by grade/subject and key word or by national, common core, or state standards.

Smithsonian's HISTORY EXPLORER provides information for the following headings: Lessons & Activities, Interactives & Media, Museum Artifacts, Themes, Books, Teacher Resources, and Web Links.

TED provides more than 1500 TED Talks on an array of subjects. It is self-described as "devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading."

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum website provides resources for educators which include rationales, lesson plans & activities, and online exhibits.

WatchKnowLearn provides an index to K-12 educational videos. Approximately 50,000 videos have been reviewed and placed into a directory which can be searched by category, target age, and ratings for usefulness.

The Web Gallery of Art is a virtual museum and searchable database of European art. Along with each image and its information (artist, title, year, medium and owner/museum information), it includes artist biographies and commentaries.
