The California Institute for Regenerative Medicine has funded a $2.2 million grant supporting full time paid internships in Bay Area stem cell research laboratories for City College Biotechnology Program students .

How to become an intern

  • Complete the Stem Cell Certificate program 
  • Apply for the Stem Cell Internship Program.  The application process is competitive, with 8 interns chosen for each 9-month cycle.

Duration of each internship: 9 months, full time



The intern must also be enrolled as a full time CCSF student, and take the required Stem Cell internship course concurrently (BTEC 21D Fall, 21E Spring).


To be eligible to apply, you must have successfully completed your Stem Cell Technology certificate courses by the start of the internship.

Hosting an intern

The outstanding intern candidates have completed ~120 hours of cell culture lab to prepare for the internship. They have additional training in molecular biology including PCR, Western blotting and ELISA.
