COMS brings together existing computational chemistry groups at three Faculties of the University of Copenhagen (UCPH). The center covers a broad range of complementary expertise in nearly all areas of state-of-the-art computational molecular sciences. The aims of the center are: · to provide a forum for exchange of knowledge, research plans, teaching, and international Ph.D. schools. · to provide a bridge between the molecular sciences and the recent IT-oriented initiatives at the UCPH, such as Center of IT Innovation, the eScience Center, and the new NAT-IT bachelor degree program. · to develop and maintain a supercomputing infrastructure specifically for the molecular sciences, including dedicated staff, software library, and computing facilities. · to provide a central resource which facilitates collaborations with experimental research groups in areas ranging from minerals through living systems to the atmosphere and climate change. · to develop and apply state-of-the-art methods and software in computational sciences, and maintain UCPH’s historically strong position in the forefront of that area. |
