Saturday October 14th, 8:30-10:30

Topic: Hope Never Disappoints!

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.  With this in mind, we are fortunate to have Author Sue Perry as our guest speaker on Saturday October 14th 8:30-10:30 AM.

Susan authored the book,From Beneath the Tarp,” which relates her own experience as a victim and her journey to become a healthy survivor of this social injustice.  Susan received Governor Walker’s Council on Domestic Abuse Courage Award for 2016, and subsequently he appointed her to serve on this council. We encourage teen age girls and all  women to please come and hear her message. She will tell her own story and how she whispered the love of Jesus along the way. Susan will be available later that afternoon at Mequon’s Book World for book signing.

"From Beneath the Tarp is a true story of one woman’s journey through the realities of domestic violence. Although an innocent childhood supplanted a healthy self-esteem, the betrayal of a traumatic marriage launched her into a world she never knew existed. The cycle of violence is detailed in this story of courage and renewal. May God receive the glory for this woman’s transformation, healing and redemption. In the end, this is a story about hope, and hope never disappoints."

Please join us, and don't forget to bring a friend or relative that might be interested in hearing this inspiring message of hope and courage.

Instead of adding on to our New Year, we will share with one another things in our lives that we instead need to “Let Go!”  Fellowship with us as we learn and discuss how “Letting Go” allows God to move us, allows healing, and allows our faith to grow as we move forward!

VERY CONTAGIOUS CHRISTMAS!

Saturday, December 10th 8:30-10:30 We will enjoy an early brunch,

What??? A  contagious Christmas?

YES!  Come join our Christmas fellowship so full of joy it can’t help but spread. Throughout this event we will discover what makes the smiles, flavors, and story of Christmas contagious. We will remember and capture traditions that are important to us and to others.  Hopefully we may even be inspired to create new traditions as we hear what we share. Through it all, we will lavish each other with laughter and love—the most contagious gifts of all.

Doesn’t this sound exciting? Plus….the church will already be decorated and hustling and bustling with the re-creation of the Live Nativity so this should certainly keep us in the spirit.

Don’t forget to bring a friend, neighbor, or relative.

BTW…Do you have a favorite traditional morning Christmas dish or bread to share? If so, bring it along! We would love to have a variety of tastes and smells join us!

Saturday August 13th (8:30-10:30)

A simple sunflower can teach us how to find God and help us keep our focus after we
come to know Him. The sunflower is the perfect symbol for the faith that guides the soul because the blossom is always seeking out the light. God is in all sorts of places, but we only find Him when look to the "Son" and accept the sacrifice He made on our behalf to pay the penalty for our sins.
Please....come join us on Saturday August 13th to learn how we can make connections of the life of a sunflower and have the best days when we follow the "Son!"

Don't forget to invite a friend to come along and share our joy!

Saturday July 9th (8:30-10:30)
Topic: Secret Garden
After all the hard work put into a garden, thankfully it begins to bloom and grow in beauty.
That is so like what  our prayer gardens reflect as well. Our prayer life depends upon what we put into it. It is like anything else in life. We get out of something what we put into it, and sometimes, you get what you "pray" for!

In the story of "The Secret Garden"
the garden did not become beautiful overnight. Little by little as the garden was worked, it began to take shape and grow in beauty.  Christ gives us the example of how to work on our prayer gardens in Matthew 6: 5-13. In these verses he covers everything in prayer from acknowledging God, praying for others, and so much more!

Please join us on Saturday July 9th as we relate our prayer times to the garden of God's Love.  And remember, as always, we encourage you to bring a friend!

We are ladies of God, but do we show that fact by how we conduct ourselves? Are we talking, walking, sitting, dressing, acting, and thinking like Godly ladies?

Come join us on Saturday June 11th as we dig deeper into sharing what it means to be a Christian Lady! Meet us in the upper worship room for free food, music and fellowship.

"Pastor Lisa from Redeemer Lutheran Church"
Did you know that Christ Church has three strategic partners that we are serving as our domestic missions? One of those partners is Redeemer Lutheran Church in downtown Milwaukee. Some of you may have served at the Noon Run meal that their congregation is serving 6 days a week, (with volunteers from Marquette when school is in session), to the many homeless and impoverished folks in their neighborhood. This is one of the many ambitious efforts Redeemer is making to reach out in the name of Christ to their neighbors.
We are very exited to have
Pastor Lisa Bates-Froiland of Redeemer come speak to our Women of Purpose group about what God is doing in their congregation!
Please join us:

Saturday July 11th (8:30-10:30 A.M.)
"Servant Leadership"
A Christ Church member will lead us  in worship and praise with  a devotion dedicated to service.
After the devotion on service,Cheryl Watt will show a video clip from a DVD titled " A Walk to Beautiful."
This award winning film,
shares the stories of three women, rejected by their husbands and ostracized by their communities, who leave home for treatment of obstetric fistulas ( a hole in the bladder or rectal wall that leaks into the vagina). After a strenuous journey to Addis Ababa, the women arrive at the Fistula Hospital and receive compassionate treatment. In Ethiopia alone, there were an estimated 100,000 women suffering from untreated fistulas. With the addition of five sites in the rural areas, this number has hopefully dropped.

Following the DVD and discussion we will work with church member Gail Watson on a special project. We will participate in making menstral pads for women at the Strong Family Center.

We look forward to seeing you on July 11th as we work together on this global service project! Feel free to bring a friend!

(Ladies are asked to bring sharp scissors, an iron, or a mini ironing board if you have one. If not, come anyway and we will share our resources!)

Saturday April 11th (8:30-10:30 A.M.)

Topic: Joy For The Journey- PART 3

In February and March, Women of Purpose have had an ongoing dialogue about Joy for the Journey. We discussed that there are obstacles in our everyday lives that might prevent us from finding and focusing on true joy in the Lord. At our April meeting we will have the opportunity to hear from well known Women of Faith Speaker, Sheila Walsh (on DVD), as she shares a troubling part of her journey, when her faith and
obedience to God's word helped her to persevere, once again finding the joy of the Lord in her life. WOP will engage in conversation on our reactions to Sheila's story and share open dialogue about how these insight might assist us in our cry to God for help in a broken world.

"Consider it pure joy my sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything" James 1:2-4

Topic: Joy For The Journey- PART 2

In February our Women of Purpose group talked about those things that might keep us from knowing the
true Joy of the Lord. We determined that joy is a spiritual discipline and we shared some tools that would help us discover that joy! Our March meeting will continue to pursue Joy by collaborating with each other through interactive experiences, open dialogue and sharing responses to a Patsy Clairmont video on "Living Lively."

“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and He helps me.  My heart leaps for joy and with my song I praise Him.”  Psalm 28:7"

Dec. 14th Meeeting
There was discussion during our last fellowship about "New Beginning's Ministry" in Milwaukee.
We agreed to bring a Children's Christmas Book to pass out to the children. Books can foster imagination and help support literacy skills, so please bring a Children's Christmas book to the meeting on December 14th. We would like the children to take the books home and share with their families. However, if you do not have a book to bring, that is ok....still come!

We are also looking for 8-10 dozen undecorated cut out cookies and "sprinkles" or "colored sugars" that we can use to decorate cookies with the kids. If you can... please bring in some of these items. We will decorate with the kids and then send some of the cookies home for them to share with their families.
