The purpose of this page is to allow community groups and organizations involved in education around fair trade in Canada to to share ideas, resources, and campaign information.  Our current focus is on activities is National Fair Trade Weeks and World Fair Trade Day 2009 (www.worldfairtradeday09.org).  We are encouraging groups to share ideas (in posts below) of how to celebrate during this time.

Saturday, May 2, 2009: Wolfville Farmer's Market & the Win a Weekend in Wolfville Contest
From May 1 - May 15, The Town of Wolfville and JUDES are hosting the Win a Weekend in Wolfville for a special weekend for two of fair and local activities.  Enter to win by emailing a photo of yourself using a fair trade product OR answering the question "On what date did Wolfville become Canada's first Fair Trade Town?" to contest2009@judesfairtrade.ca.  Contest closes on May 15th - visit www.judesfairtrade.ca for more details or visit us at the Farmers' Market on May 2nd.

Saturday, May 9, 2009: Photography Exhibit of the The Faces of Fair Trade in Halifax
Celebrate Fair Trade Weeks with an exclusive exhibit of amateur photographers capturing the essence of fair trade.  Prints of the photos will be available for sale, including a silent auction for a framed print by professional photographer Brian Atkinson (www.brianatkinson.ca).  JUDES is open to sharing these photos in a travelling exhibit with other Fair Trade organizations. Exquisite silk and cotton scarves, bags, jackets, fabric, tablecloths and more, handcrafted with natural dyes by village artisans in Thailand and Laos.

Fair Trade Coffee Break

For World Fair Trade Day -  May 9th 2009 - Marie Olive Fair Trade Gifts (www.marieolivefairtradegifts.com)

Join in the World's Largest Fair Trade Coffee Break!  All day, people who come to the store will be offered some free coffee (or tea).  They will be asked to sign-up and be counted as part of the World's Largest Fair Trade Coffee Break.
