Issue 2: Technology – How has technology influenced the spread of information?

Study Question 7:  In what way does technology limit access and distribution?

Thesis Statement:  The new paradigm of school services and classes being almost exclusively online has created a technological divide between the technologically proficient and the “techno peasants”.  This tends to manifest itself prominently in older and returning college students.  We will document the causes and effects of this technological divide on the community college level.

We are specifically investigating the technological divide; the rift between those who are comfortable with technology, in particular the growing movement towards a paperless, online work and classroom, and those that this movement leaves behind. We are going to research how and, why the movement towards school services and classes began and became so prevalent, and how this has created a technological divide among college students, in particular its influence on returning and older students.
