We had a nice service today, and seeing babies and children dedicated to the Lord is always wonderful.  It was also a blessing having Leah step in with special music.  Such a beautiful voice and a great song!  (Leah, sorry about the mic cutting in and out.  We have a few technical issues we're working through.  OK... more than a few.)

A Capella Fun

"Run To You" by Pentatonix, with a few of the words changed to make it a praise song.  The original song is here, along with a PDF of the sheet music with new and improved lyrics, and individual parts for soprano, alto, tenor, baritone and bass.  I strongly recommend printing out a copy and using a yellow highlighter on your part, otherwise it can get confusing.  There are also MP3 files in that directory where I've recorded each part on the keyboard along with the original song, so you'll hear Pentatonix singing in one ear and your part played on the keyboard in the other ear.  They are labeled as soprano, alto, etc.  Practice the timing and focus on making voices blend together. This will be BEAUTIFUL if we can get our parts down!

Night of Praise and Worship

posted Dec 26, 2014, 9:16 AM by Jeremy Ellis

Well, it's finally happening!  We will be having our first total Praise and Worship service in close to five years and I'm looking forward to it.  It will be on Saturday, 1/17/15 @ 4:30pm.  I've went through our song list and tried to select some songs that will flow for this service.  I've selected an equal amount of fast, medium and slow paced songs so that we can keep a diverse range throughout the service.  Here is the song list, in order:

 - Better is One Day
 - At Your Name
 - Overcome
 - Friend of God
 - The Thousand Reasons
 - The Stand
 - Stand up and Praise Him
 - People Get Ready
 - Lead Me to the Cross
 - Your Grace is Enough
 - White Flag
 - Your Love Never Fails
 - Revelation song

Looking forward to see you all there!!

Jeremy

New Song Proposal

Allen mentioned this one to me, and I agree.  "Glory Bound" by The Wailin' Jennys.  It's a 3-part harmony (SSA) in the key of D, which I can barely hear, much less sing, so presumably we'll need to work on the composition.  But the song is awesome.  It's off their Firecracker album, and uses a banjo on the opening verse.  They also include another version on their "Live at the Mauch Chunk Opera House" CD, which is done in the key of E (even higher!) and features a violin in addition to the banjo.  I'm thinking viola and/or mandolin, maybe?  Version 1.  Version 2.  The only lead sheet I've found is capo'ed on the 7th fret in G.  I've uploaded it.  Listen and comment!!

Attached is the music schedule for October in .pdf format.  Please print a copy of it off and keep with you so that you will be able to keep up with what songs we are doing and when.  You will also find this on the Cape Charles Baptist website under the ‘ministries’ then ‘praise team’.  You will see ‘schedule’ on the left side.  Once you click on that, it will pull up the same list that I have attached to this email.

Here is the link for the Cape Charles Baptist Church webpage:
http://capecharlesbaptist.org/ministries.shtml

Keep in mind that there are some new songs on this list which means that we will need to be listened up and ready to go on them.  I will be working on the webpage as well so that we will have chord chart and Youtube links for review.  These will be introduced as specials so that we can do them as regular slots the next month.  I would like to keep in this rotation so that by 3-4 months, we would technically be able to do all new songs that have been previously introduced.

As you know, Greg will be away this month due to work, so Jerry Fitchett will be covering us on the drums until Greg can make it back.

Lets utilize our praise team page for announcements and updates.  This is a great tool for us to use to stay on top of everything and to make sure that we are all on the same page at the same time.

Thanks!!
