Project CREATES (Chicago Reaching Educators through the Arts To Engage Students), seeks to enhance classroom teachers’ understanding of arts education and to strengthen arts integration in their curriculum.  Supported by the U.S. Department of Education, the 
CPS Department of Arts Education in partnership with Columbia College Chicago’s Center for Community Arts Partnerships offers the highest quality programs to build teachers’ arts literacy and teaching skills in the arts and arts integration. This site is designed to be a resource for current Project Creates Teachers, coaches, staff and artists.

Project Goals

  • To expand middle school teachers’ capacity to access, integrate, and align arts integration with the Common Core Standards in reading; 
  • To create innovative options for student learning through the integration of the arts in standard academic lessons; 
  • To develop, to receive and to share arts integrated curriculum and effective methods to assess student learning
