CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
The Art of Shrinky Dinks- Come relax and make some shrinky dinks. You will be given some blank shrinky dinks sheets to design, color and heat. Need to Bring: A smile and laughter.
Axe Me About My Saw- Uncomfortable working with sharp things at camp? Or having your girls use them? Review and practice with a variety of sharp tools--knife, saw, hatchet, and axe. Need to Bring: If you have them, bring a pocket knife or sheath knife, bow saw or folding saw, hatchet with a sheath, and light axe with a sheath.
Beaded Snowflakes- Learn to bead a 6-prong wire form and make gorgeous jeweled snowflake. Perfect as Christmas ornaments or window hangers! Need to Bring: Round-nose jewelry pliers--if you have them
Bookmarks of All Types- We will create bookmarks of many different types. Paper, Wood, paper clip, leather etc
Button Art- Start with simple projects here, then let your imagination run wild. I have tons of buttons, but if you have some fun ones, bring them along. Need to Bring: Tacky glue, scissors
Canoe, Kayak, and Stand Up Paddleboard for Fun!- Come kayak, canoe or SUP for fun! Need to Bring: Clothes that can get wet and water shoes, sunscreen.
Crocheting a Headband- This class teaches too how to crochet a headband/earwarmer. Need to Bring: Yarn and 5 or 6 size crochet hook.
Diamond Art Bookmark- Make a bookmark for your favorite books. Need to Bring: Magnifying tool
Don't Speak- ‘Don’t Speak’ Bring your favorite beverage and a chair/blanket to relax while we “bathe” in the sounds and scents of the forest. Need to Bring: Chair and or blanket to sit on and drink
Easy Like Sunday Morning- Join us for a book club discussion of Best Friends Forever by popular author (and huge Girl Scout supporter) Jennifer Weiner. Enjoy a continental breakfast and mocktail mimosas while we discuss the book. Please read it at your leisure ahead of time! Need to Bring:Your copy of the book, a desire for a low key Sunday morning, and if you’d like a fun drinking glass for your mocktails.
Fiddling with Flowers and Beads- Come make flower/bead crafts that are great activities for your scouts to make and have fun with or give as gifts! Need to Bring: Imagination
First Aid/CPR/AED- First Aid/ CPR/AED Certifiction Class
GS Escape Room Pop Up- Visit and be one of the first to test drive a new traveling “escape room” experience. Solve puzzles while exploring the history of GSUSA and locate the lost Golden Trefoil. (This is not a class but designed to visit during available times)
Holiday Decore- Several choices! Holiday Door Hanging Need to Bring: Glue gun if available…
Hot, Hot, Hot- Learn to sew hot pads/pot holders
Introduction to Quilling- Quilling is a type of ornamental craftwork involving the shaping of paper. During this session you will be introduced to the art of quilling using introductory level skills. You will be taking strips of paper and using a tool to curl the paper into shapes to make a design. We will be making two ornaments: a snowflake and an angel. Need to Bring: Patience and a smile.
It's In the Cards- Learn easy and fun card games to play with kids or friends!
Junior Detective Badge- Will provide content and materials to complete all steps of the Detective Badge.
Just Cozy- Learn to sew a bowl cozy, no experience necessary
Kayak for Fun- Come wash your troubles away as you glide through the water. Need to Bring: Water shoes, towel
Keep Your Vocal Cords Warm- Make a no sew fleece blanket with simple knots and see some fancy fringe options Need to Bring: 2 coordinating pieces of fleece fabric (1yd each for a baby blanket(total of 2yds), 2yds each for an adult blanket (total of 4yds)), fabric scissors
Keeping Teens in Scouting- An open discussion about the challenges and successes of keeping teens interested in GS. Need to Bring: questions and experience
Knots- Knots are part of the 8 outdoor skills. Learn the basics so they can be taught to the girls.
Lashing- Learn to Lash- build tables, tripods using trees, limbs, and wood Need to Bring: Pocket Knives
Leather Keychain or Ornament- We will create your choice of leather keychain or Christmas ornament
Light My Fire- Need a refresher on fire safety and how to build a fire? Uncomfortable building fires with your girls? This is the class for you! Need to Bring: Box of matches, couple of tea lights or birthday candles, and Coglin's Flint Striker (available at Walmart or Cabela's for ~$7).
Low Ropes- Learn the elements of the low ropes course
Oops, I Did It Again- Learn to make melt and pour soaps and take some home to the family
Ornament Glitz- Come make an ornament. Keep or give as a gift. Need to Bring: Scissors, sm tube of E6000 or tacky glue.
Outdoor Basic Skills- Outdoor Basics Skill Session 6 hours. Need to Bring: All materials to cook a meal, fire starters they have made, matches
Paper Diva Treats- Make small paper treat holders for the stars in your life--1) bow-tied pyramids, 2) origami prism boxes, 3) homemade paper gift bags. Need to Bring: Scissors
Put a Cork In It- Making crafts with wine bottle corks Need to Bring: Glue gun. Sharp knife
Resin Bookmarks and Keychains- Participants will create their choice of a resin bookmark or keychain. Need to Bring: The instructor will provide a variety of embellishments for the craft, but if you have a gliitter preference, stickers, etc, bring your own (bookmarks are 1 in wide, 4 in long).
Return to Sender- We will make 3-4 cards using Victorian era motifs-flowers, insects, lace, etc.
Satin Ball Ornament- Come make an ornament. Keep or give as a gift. Need to Bring: Scissors, sm tube of E6000 or tacky glue
Snack Like A Pop Star- Back by popular demand, let’s have fun w charcuterie! Bring your favorite bite size snack to share w the group while we each make a custom charcuterie tray. Need to Bring: Bite size snack to share
Step Up Your Greeting Cards- Greeting cards, step it UP!! Need to Bring: Tombow glue, small sharp scissors
Straw Weaving- Weaving straws with Yarn
String Art Badge Frame- Create a frame with string that displays your patch. Need to Bring: Bring your own patch or Pop Star Fall School patch
Stuffed Pumpkins- Make fall themed stuffed pumpkins, easy stitching and stuffing so girls can do this. Need to Bring: Scissors
Sugar Pie Irons, Honey Bunch- Come learn different recipes for pie iron meals! Please submit any food allergies or will not eat foods when registering. Need to Bring: If you have a pie iron to bring and share, that would be great, but not required. Please bring your mess kit and whatever beverage you prefer to drink with your meal.
SWAPS- Traditions, History,and Creating- Find out what those Special Whatchamacallits are all about. Learn history, traditions and of course all about creating! You will make several SWAPS and leave with many great ideas to create with your own Troops! Need to Bring: Scissors, glue gun/glue sticks
Team Building- Come learn some fun ways to build teamwork among your troop or service unit.
Troop Travel- Learn all about Troop Travel. How do I start? I will show you the travel progression and planning from Brownies to Ambassadors. Need to Bring: Notebook and pencil/pen
We Didn't Start the Fire- No better way to start the day than a fire, breakfast, and some fresh camp coffee! Need to Bring: mess kit, eating utensils, coffee cup
Wire Wrapped Necklace- Come make a wire-wrapped pendant and channel your inner rock star! Need to Bring: Jewelry pliers, scissors
Zumba!- Zumba! Exercise in disguise! No experience necessary…just be willing to move with excitement! Need to Bring: Athletic shoes
