From Q Magazine, Courier Mail, 29 January 2011.
The strangest place I've been recognised was... Camping in Queensland on census night during the Water Rats days. A woman came to our tent and said, "Fancy meeting you here."
I discovered a love of acting... When I was in kindergarten and saw the play Peter and the Wolf. It had a big impact on me.
The first time I performed for an audience was... In a school play about Helen Keller. I was Anne Sullivan, Keller's teacher. Very deep for Grade 4.
A favourite character to play was... Martha in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? for Belvoir St Theatre. There's no holding back in that role.
An awkward onstage moment was... When my wig slipped in The Crucible. [Actor] John Howard gave me a little nod and wink to say it was only half off.
The question I'm most often asked is... How do you learn all those lines?
I'm no good at... Anything domestic, and I can't sing. I'm a terrible drawer. I don't know why I'm an actor. I have no talents in any other artistic pursuit.
A favourite book is... A. S. Byatt's The Children's Book. An amazing read.
Five people I'd like to invite to dinner would be... My grandmother, great-grandmother and the three generations of women in my family before them. I'd like to know what their lives were like; do we share any character traits?
At home I cook... Middle Eastern. We have a quince tree and I make my own quince paste and jam, although they end up pretty rubbery.
